“I got a shortlisted for my first consultant interview with one week’s notice. I had absolutely no previous interview prep and Edmund was very kind to be very flexible and gave me two 1 to 1 sessions over zoom including weekend. I felt that I was being coached rather than told what to say. In a very short period I was able to formulate structure for most commonly asked questions and glad to say that I got the job despite the high competition.
Highly recommended “

I had several preparation sessions with Edmund for a Consultant interview and these one-to-one sessions worked much better for me than group interview courses . He managed to get me from being hesitant, awkward and unsure to being able to coherently answer any question that they threw at me and I was successful in securing the job. He was really flexible and able to fit sessions around a busy full time job and I even managed a practice session on a Friday evening after a day at EuroDisney with my kids!

Testimonials

“Edmund Cross came very highly recommended by one of my colleagues and I have to say he did not disappoint at all … he was absolutely amazing as a coach, he was very insightful and supportive and gave lots of very useful advice.

He brings a level of attention to detail that is truly remarkable and seemed to tailor his approach and advice based on my needs rather than a one size fits all … it felt like a very personal interaction, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I learned a lot both about interview and also about myself.

And I got the job! Thanks Edmund ”

Edmund's Interview coaching course was recommended to me by a fellow trainee. I was very impressed with how Edmund took time and interest to understand my strengths and weakness regarding interview technique and the required formal communication skills.

  1. Edmund has a wealth of knowledge and experience in leadership and NHS systems that is really useful to understand not just for consultant interviews but as prepartion for working as a new consultant in the NHS.

  2. I really appreciated the flexible way Edmund appraoched the coaching sessions. He tailored them to maximise engagement and developement. I gained much more than just interview preparedness, the sessions have helped with my overall confidence and has provided me with a valuable understanding of the philosphy and science of leadership and managment. - Thank you! “I engaged Edmund's services to help me prepare for an up and coming substantive consultant interview in the form of several one to one sessions (over Zoom) after a recommendation from a colleague. The sessions were structured around what I wanted to get out of them and were invaluable in facilitating me reach my goal and being successful at interview. Edmund used his experience and in-depth knowledge of the NHS and how it works to improve my performance at interview. The ability to answer real life questions, in a simulated environment, with real time feed back and suggestions for improvement really helped me to build confidence that I could perform well on the day. Thank you Edmund!" (Paediatric surgery)

“I approached Edmund seeking help preparing for a forthcoming interview for a Junior Clinical Fellowship interview, at a career stage where specialist interview courses are hard to come by. Having not had to prepare for an interview for several years, I sought the expertise of somebody who would help hone my focus and identify areas I needed to work on over the coming weeks. Edmund took time to get to know me and the job I was applying for. I found him easy to talk to, and we established a good rapport quickly. He set tasks for me to work on between sessions which were personalised to my needs. I was not fed didactic answers; instead Edmund helped me develop my own thoughts, ideas and experiences into authentic interview answers which I was comfortable to deliver on the day. Edmund’s background in NHS management provided a valuable resource to tap in to when preparing for topical questions on these areas. I plan to use Edmund’s services when I next have to prepare for a medical interview. Thanks again. All the best, until next time! “ (Surgical) Sept 2020

As a CESR registrar, I was invited to interview for a locum consultant post in EmergencyMedicine. Edmund was experienced, focussed and knowledgable about the NHS (structure, politics, job roles, proposed changes, and human factors in working as a doctor). He immediately incorporated my ideas into the interview preparation plan, spending time finding out about recent developments in Emergency Medicine as well as guiding me on how to respond to questions relating to leadership, quality, difficult situations and how to best frame my experiences and achievements to date. In the interview, I was able to calmly respond to questions in a structured and positive manner even when the question was unexpected. I was thrilled to be successful at interview. I was given feedback that I had scored highly enough that if it had been a substantive post I would have also been successful. I highly recommend these sessions to anyone preparing for an interview at any level of training.
